Giorgio Mecca
Born in Turin, Italy, pastry chef Giorgio Mecca began his culinary journey at 14, training at the esteemed Istituto Albert and later refining his craft under the guidance of renowned pastry master Vittorio Montini. Deeply rooted in Italian tradition, Giorgio now brings his uniquely innovative approach to Berlin, blending classic techniques with international influences to create exquisite pastries that honor heritage while embracing modern creativity. In October 2023, he captained Germany’s team at the inaugural Panettone World Championship—a competition celebrating traditional Italian pastry.
This leadership underscored his expertise and passion for panettone, one of Italy’s most iconic pastries. So much so that in 2024, Giorgio earned the title of Maestro del Lievito Madre, joining the distinguished Accademia Maestri Lievito Madre e Panettone Italiano (Academy of Masters of Mother Yeast and Italian Panettone). His work has also been featured in major media outlets, such as RBB, Rai, Tagesspiegel, and Berlin Magazine, highlighting his influence in the world of pastry and commitment to excellence. Today, you can experience Giorgio’s passion by visiting his shop in Prenzlauer Berg.
